SVP & CFO at HarperCollins

Dan Schwartz is SVP, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for HarperCollins Publishers, responsible for accounting, credit and collections, budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, internal and external financial reporting, financial analysis and strategic management. He was appointed to this position in January 2023 and sits on the company’s global executive committee.

Prior to joining HarperCollins Schwartz spent 13 years at Macmillan Publishers in a variety of roles, most recently as Chief Financial Officer. During his time there, he led a large and complex organization across corporate finance, divisional finance and business management, accounting, controlling, strategy, data science and analytics, business systems, digital rights, digital business development, ebooks, and royalties, among others. He built high performing teams, successfully implemented several business and financial IT systems, and assembled an industry-leading ebook production and distribution operation.

Prior to Macmillan, Schwartz spent more than a decade in management consulting with a focus in media and entertainment and investment banking. Schwartz has an MBA in finance and strategy from Columbia Business School and a BS in economics with concentrations in finance and entrepreneurial management from the Wharton School.
