Lane Nelson

Lane Nelson has had a diverse range of work experience throughout their career. Lane began by working at Pansophic Systems as an Account Manager from June 1984 to August 1988. Following this, they held the position of Director at AIM Rent-a-Car dba Budget Rent-a-Car from 1988 to 1992, where they managed centralized IT and Fleet services. During this time, they oversaw vehicle acquisition, disposition, and accounting for a rental fleet with over 15,000 vehicles. Additionally, they managed IT operations, including 24x7x364 operations at three major airport locations.

From 1992 to 1998, Lane worked as a Director at Pilot Software. In this role, they played a key role in the company's operations. In 1998, Lane joined HarrisData as its President, Chief Evangelist, and Board Member. During their time there, they led the transformation of legacy HRIS/ERP/CRM software applications to a web-native application suite based on REST APIs. Lane was responsible for conceiving and executing a unique customer-focused strategy. Throughout their tenure, they consistently exceeded customer retention targets.

More recently, Lane served as an Advisory Board Member at the Internet of Things Community from June 2015 to December 2016.

Lane Nelson earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering from Yale University, completing their program from 1980 to 1984. Lane then pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus in Finance at The Wharton School, attending from 1988 to 1989. Additionally, Lane has obtained various certifications over the years, including the WSET Level 3 Wines certification from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, achieved in April 2023. They have also completed several online courses, such as "IBM Blockchain Foundation for Developers" from Coursera in July 2018, "A developer's guide to the Internet of Things (IoT)" from Coursera in June 2016, "Software Product Management" from Coursera in May 2016, "Machine Learning With Big Data" from Coursera in March 2016, "Graph Analytics for Big Data" from Coursera in February 2016, "Hadoop Platform and Application Framework" from Coursera in February 2016, and "Machine Learning" from Coursera in February 2016. Furthermore, Lane holds the certifications of "Zend Framework 2 Certified Architect" from Zend Technologies since October 2014 and "Zend Certified PHP5 Engineer" from Zend Technologies since April 2009.
