Anara Serikbaeva, PhD has a diverse work experience in the fields of medical research and scientific writing. Anara is currently working as an Associate Regional Medical Director at Harrow since March 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Faculty Opinions as a Scientific Writer from October 2020 to March 2023.

Before joining the industry, Dr. Serikbaeva worked as a Graduate Research Assistant in Ophthalmology and Vascular biology at the University of Illinois Chicago from August 2017 to January 2023. During their time there, they focused on elucidating the mechanism of mitochondrial adaptation to hyperglycemia in human retinal endothelial cells in the context of diabetic retinopathy disease. Anara also received a Top-Ranking Research Grant for their research proposal on hyperglycemia-induced mitochondria adaptation.

Earlier in their career, Dr. Serikbaeva worked as a Research Scientist in Cancer Chemotherapeutics at the National Laboratory Astana at Nazarbayev University from September 2014 to August 2017. Anara'swork involved investigating the effect of various drugs on microtubules in cancer cells. Anara also authored several scientific publications during this time.

In addition to their research work, Dr. Serikbaeva also gained experience as a Teaching Assistant at Nazarbayev University from November 2016 to June 2017. In this role, they assisted professors in evaluating student homework, proctoring exams, organizing laboratory classes, and mentoring undergraduate students in coursework presentations.

Anara Serikbaeva, PhD, obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Physiology|Ophthalmology from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Science (MS) in Biological Sciences at Nazarbayev University. In addition to their academic achievements, Dr. Serikbaeva has obtained various certifications, including "Developing Your Emotional Intelligence," "Six Sigma Foundations," and "Six Sigma: Green Belt" from LinkedIn. Anara also holds certifications in "Design and Interpretation of Clinical Trials," "GCP for Clinical Trials with Investigational Drugs and Medical Devices," "Group 1.
