Arjun Garapaty

Arjun Garapaty is an undergraduate researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, in the Schepartz Lab, focusing on the in-vivo incorporation of expanded-backbone amino acids through intein acyl capture mechanisms. In addition to research, Arjun serves as Head of Events for the Undergraduate Gift Campaign, fostering community among undergraduate students in the College of Chemistry. Arjun's experience includes working as a Student Technical Support Assistant at MRIGlobal, where there is an ongoing provisional patent for a chemically-compatible microfluidic reactor chip. Active in the American Chemical Society's UC Berkeley chapter, Arjun connects students with industry professionals and also holds the position of Director of Outreach for the Indian Students Association, promoting Indian culture on campus. As a Harvard Amgen Scholar, Arjun works in the Woo Lab, focusing on post-translational modifications, and has a background in research on neuroinflammatory responses at the Kansas City Veteran's Administration Hospital. Current education includes studies at UC Berkeley, alongside coursework at UC Berkeley Extension.
