Jim Waldo

Jim Waldo is a distinguished expert in the field of computer science, currently serving as Chief Technology Officer and Professor of the Practice of Computer Science at Harvard University since January 1996, where instruction focuses on Distributed Computing at the graduate and upper-level undergraduate levels, alongside Ph.D. advising. Prior to this, Jim Waldo held significant engineering roles at prominent companies including VMWare, Sun Labs (Oracle), and Sun Microsystems, where research contributions have led to the development of marketable products. Early career experience includes consulting engineering positions at Hewlett-Packard and Apollo Computer, with foundational work in software development and the initial implementation of CORBA. Jim Waldo earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
