Leemon Baird

Leemon Baird is a highly accomplished computer scientist with extensive experience in both academic and industry roles. Currently serving as Chief Scientist and Co-CEO at Hashgraph since May 2022, Baird has also been the Founder and CTO of Swirlds Inc. since September 2015. Previously, Baird held the positions of Founder and Chief Scientist at Hedera Hashgraph from January 2018 to May 2022, and acted as a consultant from April 2012 to September 2015. Baird has a robust background in research, having worked as a Senior Research Scientist at the Academy Center for Cyberspace Research and as a Professor of Computer Science at the US Air Force Academy. Baird's professional journey also includes roles as Co-founder and CTO at BlueWave Security and Trio Security, as well as Director of Security Engineering at Symbol Technologies (Motorola). Educational credentials include a PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the United States Air Force Academy.
