Jan Valik is an accomplished artist with extensive experience in both artistic practice and cultural engagement. Currently serving as a Gallery Invigilator and Front Desk staff at Hauser & Wirth since October 2022, Jan has also been self-employed as an artist since July 2012. Valik's artistic journey includes multiple artist residencies at notable institutions such as Shanjian Contemporary Art Space, Banska Stanica Contemporary, Egon Schiele Art Center, and Cité internationale des arts, where art production, research, and public communication played key roles. Additionally, Valik has completed several internships focused on arts and culture management, including positions at Mark Rothko Art Centre and BankART 1929 Studio NYK. Jan Valik is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Painting at the Royal College of Art, following a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.

Hauser & Wirth was founded in 1992 in Zurich by Iwan Wirth, Manuela Wirth and Ursula Hauser, who were joined in 2000 by Partner and President Marc Payot. A family business with a global outlook, Hauser & Wirth has expanded over the past 29 years to include outposts in Hong Kong, London, New York, Los Angeles, Somerset, Gstaad, St. Moritz, Southampton (NY), Menorca, and Monaco. The gallery represents over 80 artists and estates who have been instrumental in shaping its identity over the past quarter century, and who are the inspiration for Hauser & Wirth’s diverse range of activities that engage with art, education, conservation and sustainability.
