Earlier in their career, Holger worked as an Associate Software Developer at Turnitin from April 2014 to September 2014. Their responsibilities included supporting customers in integrating TurnItIn, GradeMark, and PeerMark into their learning management systems, fixing bugs, implementing new features, and analyzing server logs.

Holger Ballweg has an extensive education history. Holger started their educational journey in 2007 at Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Informatics and Musicology. Holger completed this program in 2011.

After their bachelor's degree, Holger continued their studies at the same institution. Holger enrolled in a Master of Arts program in Music Informatics, which lasted from 2011 to 2015. During this time, they gained a deeper understanding of the field.

In 2014, Holger decided to further enhance their academic qualifications by pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy at Northumbria University. Holger specialized in Computer Science and worked towards their PhD for five years, finally completing the program in 2019.
