Mark Emerton

Mark Emerton is a highly experienced medical professional with a focus on orthopaedics and patient safety. With a medical degree from the University of Oxford, Emerton has served as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS from 1999 until October 2021. Key roles include National Clinical Lead for the Safer Surgery Checklist at the Patient Safety First Campaign, and Clinical Director of Elective Orthopaedics at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Emerton has also worked as a Senior Clinical Advisor at the National Patient Safety Agency and as a Clinical Advisor at the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement, where contributions included leading a quality and value program for hip and knee replacements.
