Derrick Higgins is the VP of Enterprise Data Science & AI at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. Previously, Derrick served as Director of NLP & Speech Research at ETS from 2003 to 2014, where they led a 25-member team and advanced through multiple roles. Derrick has also worked as Lead Data Scientist at Civis Analytics and Data Science Manager at American Family Insurance, focusing on machine learning and data science strategies. In addition to these roles, Derrick was an Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at the Illinois Institute of Technology from 2019 to 2023 and holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Chicago.
