Heads Up! Hartford operates a week-long summer service camp (with touchpoints throughout the year), uniting urban and suburban youth to improve our communities and develop as leaders. Our three-part mission is to:
•	Promote diversity
•	Develop collaborative leaders, and
•	Provide community service to Hartford, CT and its surrounding communities.

Encouraging community service at a young age fosters ongoing community engagement as an adult and enables thriving communities. And studies show that to create positive, sustainable change in our complex world, we need collaborative leaders who value diversity, inclusion, and teamwork. 

The camp is licensed by the state of Connecticut and serves youth from communities in and around Hartford. Each summer, we share our camp experience with 80-100 campers and approximately 50 adult volunteers. Together we donate more than 3,000 hours of service to central Connecticut nonprofit organizations. 

The Youth Advisory Board, comprised of experienced high school campers, plays a big role in both planning for and running the camp. The members of this board create evening camp programs and take leadership roles on their teams.

Unlike many nonprofit organizations with expenses for salaries, rent and utilities, Heads Up! Hartford is managed and staffed by over 50 volunteers and a volunteer Board of Directors, all donating their time and talents to help unite youth throughout central Connecticut to provide community service and develop as leaders.
