Nix Barnett, PhD, is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Headspace since October 2019, following the merger of Ginger and Headspace to form Headspace Health. Prior to this role, Nix served as a Machine Learning Engineer at Ginger from October 2019 to June 2022. A sabbatical taken from September 2016 to July 2019 included the completion of personal data and machine learning projects. Nix's academic background includes a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Davis, where contributions were made as a Graduate Researcher through the extension of mathematical theories in optimal prediction and modeling of time series, alongside teaching various mathematics courses. Additional experience includes lecturing at the Santa Fe Institute on topics such as Python and information theory. Earlier education includes a BS in Physics and a BA in Mathematics from UC San Diego.
