Health Technology Wales (HTW) is responsible for delivering a strategic, national approach to the identification, appraisal and adoption of new health technologies into health and care settings across NHS Wales. We cover all health technologies that are not medicines. This could be medical devices, surgical procedures, telemonitoring, psychological therapies, rehabilitation or any health intervention that isn’t a medicine.

We critically assess the best available clinical- and cost-effectiveness evidence for a health technology. This evidence is reviewed by experts and the HTW Appraisal Panel to put the evidence into the Welsh context.

We also function as a 'Front Door' to NHS Wales, signposting technology developers to initiatives to support technology evaluation and optimisation over the life cycle of the technology.
