Michael Berning

With over 40 years at HEAPY, Michael Berning serves as the Chief Innovation Officer and is a Senior Principal. He is responsible for the development of new markets and services and to provide corporate leadership for HEAPY Solutions (the wholly owned Construction Management subsidiary of HEAPY). In this role, his team develops the “what’s next” to enhance client service experience and produce colleague advancement opportunities. To emphasize a keen focus on the HEAPY Purpose of “Building a Sustainable, Well and more Resilient Society,” new markets and services are centered on SMART Technologies Integration, Distributed Energy Resources, Resiliency Planning, Wellbeing, etc.

Michael is an avid (snow) skier, cyclist, foodie, music enthusiast and is typically found on the dance floor at most events. He has served as Chair of the following organizations: USGBC-Ohio, the Ohio Energy Conservation Policy Advisory Board, West Central Ohio Association of Energy Engineers, St. Charles Parish Council, and the Wright State University ArtsGALA. In addition, he has served on the Boards of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Hobart Corporation Sustainability Advisory Committee, and the University of Dayton Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Advisory Committee.
