Henry Gerken

Senior Research Scientist at Heliae

Henry Gerken has worked in a variety of roles in the scientific field since 1998. Henry began their career as an Analytical Microbiological Specialist and Process Technician at Genencor International Inc. in 1998. From 2000 to 2001, they worked as a Clinical Lab Specialist III at Blood Systems Laboratories. Henry then moved to the City of Chandler, AZ, where they served as a Laboratory Technician at the Water Treatment Plant Laboratory from 2001 to 2004. Following this, they worked as a Research Associate III at The University of Iowa Center for Biocatalysis and Bioprocessing from 2004 to 2006. In 2006, they began working as a Research Specialist at Arizona State University, where they also held the position of Bisgrove/New American University Postdoctoral Fellow from 2011 to 2010. Finally, they worked as a Post Doctoral Fellow at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory from 2010 to 2023, before taking on their current role of Senior Research Scientist at Heliae Development, LLC.

Henry Gerken obtained a Bachelors of Science in Biology from the University of Iowa between 1994 and 1998. Henry then earned a Master's of Science in Microbiology from Arizona State University between 2002 and 2004. Finally, they completed a Doctorate in Microbiology from Arizona State University between 2006 and 2009.
