Hydropower is the oldest and most reliable form of clean energy dating back 2000 years. Today’s hydroelectric market produces 90% of the world’s renewable power and even though most suitable conventional hydropower sites have already been developed, the Earth still contains 300,000 sq. miles of rivers, streams, and canals (Science, 2018). 

This abundance of natural and man-made waterways have the potential to generate terawatts of power using micro-hydro. HeliosAltas has developed groundbreaking new micro-hydro technology designed to capture this vast renewable power source and deliver affordable, sustainable renewable energy quickly and efficiently throughout the world.

**** MICRO-HYDRO LANDSCAPE ****

The current micro-hydro landscape includes primarily smaller scale projects that utilize rivers, canals and other waterway in conjunction with small turbine generators. In most cases, water is diverted from a river or waterway and fed through a funnel, pipe, or other structure, where it passes through a turbine generator and joins the river below. Installation is typically invasive to the environment with relatively complex civil works.

Conventional hydro is even more complex with long lead time, heavy civil works, long power transmission system load, single power source, along with significant environmental impact.
