Hello World is Purdue’s beginner-friendly hackathon, designed to welcome students of all experience levels.

After the tremendous success of the past couple years, we’re excited to return in September 2026. Last year, over 400 Purdue students came together to learn new technologies, collaborate with peers, and build innovative projects in just one weekend.

Our vision is to foster a strong community at Purdue centered around learning, sharing, and building. Hello World is built to introduce beginners and first-time hackers to hackathon culture in a supportive, low-pressure environment, while still offering meaningful challenges and opportunities for more experienced participants.

What truly sets Hello World apart is our mentorship-driven experience. Our mentors work side-by-side with participants throughout the hackathon to ensure beginners feel supported while exploring new tools and technologies. These mentor relationships leave a lasting impression that goes far beyond a traditional career fair or tech talk.
