'In August 2019, on my business trip to visit our vanilla pod supplier in the northeast of Madagascar I didn't know what to expect. I knew that Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world and we are used to seeing photos of starving children which are used to raise funds. 

I didn't see anything of that. I was welcomed in a very friendly manner - people are content with the very little they have, they laugh and give a lot even if they don't own much. 

Something that the northeast of the island needs are hospitals and schools. This is why Help Mada e. V. was founded. We want to collect money from organizations and individuals to expand the medical and education infrastructure. The association practically doesn't have any costs, because of the people who are involved are employed in my business. The donations are earmarked for the original purpose and I personally get an idea of the project process by checking it out on site several times a year.'
