Loralyn Mears, PhD has a diverse and extensive work experience. Loralyn is currently a Co-Founder of HELPipedia, a company founded in 2023. Loralyn is also the Founder of STEERus, a Soft Skills Academy that aims to bridge the gap between education and work. In 2020, Loralyn founded STEERus and received recognition from New Jersey Governor Murphy as a Top 10 Innovator. Loralyn was appointed to their taskforce on the Future of Work.
Prior to these roles, Loralyn worked as a Content Marketing & Marketing Strategy Consultant for Toasted Marshmellow, where they achieved a top 1% rating among 15 million freelancers on UpWork. Loralyn also had a 5-year contract with QIAGEN, writing sales briefs and marketing content for Tuberculosis and Oncology. Loralyn worked as a Journalist for Grit Daily News from 2019 to 2023.
Other notable positions include Content Strategist at The Growth Warrior from 2020 to 2022, VP Sales & Marketing at RowAnalytics from 2017 to 2018, and VP Sales & Marketing at Cushman & Wakefield and Johnson Controls in 2014 and 2013 respectively. Additionally, Loralyn served as VP Sales & Marketing at YourEncore from 2011 to 2012 and Director of Oral Product Innovation & Market Research at Altria - Philip Morris from 2007 to 2011. In these roles, they demonstrated strong leadership and strategic skills in various marketing and sales functions. Loralyn has also been involved in architected high-value wins and developed innovative programs to foster a culture of innovation and diversity.
Loralyn Mears, PhD, obtained their Bachelor of Science Honors degree in Biology from Queen's University between 1987 and 1991. Loralyn then pursued a Master of Science in physiology (biology) at the University of Toronto from 1991 to 1993. Following their MSc degree, they completed their PhD in Molecular Biology at Case Western Reserve University from 1993 to 1998.
