Shipley began their career in the construction and transportation sectors, holding positions at companies such as Northwest Missouri State University and Burns & McDonnell, where they developed a foundation in the freight rail industry. They earned a Bachelor of Science in Geographic Information Systems and Cartography from Northwest Missouri State University.
