Umer Anwer has a long and varied work experience in the engineering and technology sector. Umer started their career in 1993 as a Computer Hardware Technician at the Pakistan Computer Academy, where they also taught x86 Assembly Language and Basic Language. In 1999, they co-founded North West Research, an innovative engineering company providing valuable engineering solutions to electronics engineering and manufacturing sectors in Pakistan. In 2004, they were appointed as a Science Technology & Information Technology Consultant/Advisor for the Department of ST&IT, Government of KPK, where they implemented ICT infrastructure and policy guidelines. In 2006, they joined Nuovo Systems Inc. as Chief Systems Architect/Vice President Engineering and also became an Assistant Professor (Visiting) at the NWFP University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar Pakistan. In 2008, they were appointed as Head of Engineering Department at SWS Warning Systems Inc., where they created a leading engineering vision of the company resulting in the introduction of the next generation LED lighting systems. In 2014, they joined Clarus Innovations as Chief Design Engineer/Business Development Officer. In 2015, they were recruited by HEVO Power as Chief Technology Officer, where they provided engineering leadership and created an atmosphere of research and development in the organization. Umer Anwer has been Senior Vice President of Systems Engineering and Vice President of Systems Engineering at Urban Electric Power since 2019.
Umer Anwer's education history includes a Master of Science (MS) in Software Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) from 1997 to 1999, a Master of Science (MSc) in Electronics from the University of Peshawar from 1994 to 1997, and a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Peshawar from 1992 to 1994. In 2009, Umer Anwer obtained an Executive Leadership Certificate from the Goodman School of Business at Brock University, focusing on coaching and employee involvement strategies. In 2017, Umer Anwer completed the Landmark Forum, which focused on self-awareness and personal assessment.
