Peyton Smith

Lead UC Monitor

Peyton Smith, MPA, currently serves as the Lead UC Monitor at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, a position held since August 2022. Previously, Peyton worked as an Asylum Officer for USCIS, where responsibilities included adjudicating complex asylum applications and conducting screenings. With extensive experience in resettlement services, Peyton contributed to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops from December 2016 to January 2022, managing training for resettlement offices and building community partnerships. Additional roles included positions at ARDD-Legal Aid and Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans, focusing on refugee services and volunteer management. Educational credentials include a Master of Public Administration from American University and a Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University, with additional studies at the School for International Training.
