Ahmad Zaatari

Ahmad Zaatari, MD, FACS, currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer at Military Medical City Hospital since October 2023. With extensive experience, Ahmad has held the position of President of the American College of Surgeons since January 2016 and has contributed as President Elect for the Lebanon Chapter. In the academic field, Ahmad is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Beirut Arab University, where teaching focuses on Plastic Surgery. Additionally, Ahmad has been a Plastic Surgeon and Medical Director at HHUMC مستشفى حمود الجامعي since September 1996. Previous roles include Acting Chief Executive Officer at Military Medical City Hospital - Doha and Healthcare Management Consultant at Elegancia Healthcare. Ahmad's educational background includes advanced training in Plastic Surgery and Hospital Management from prestigious institutions, culminating in a Doctor of Medicine degree from the American University of Beirut.

Our 325-bed medical center, located in Saida, Lebanon, offers sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic care in virtually every specialty of medicine and surgery. In 1966, Dr. Ghassan Hammoud a German trained Surgeon, Obstetrician & Gynecologist; established Hammoud Hospital in his native city of Saida, the third largest city in Lebanon located 40 km (29 miles) south of the capital Beirut. The hospital began as a 20-bed maternity facility. During the 1970s, the Hospital grew to a 100 patient bed multidisciplinary hospital, with more operating theaters as well as Laboratory Medicine and Radiology departments. The hospital continued to provide high quality medical care throughout the 1980s during the Lebanese Civil War. During the late 1990s, the hospital acquired more advanced medical technologies, expanded and diversified its medical departments to include a Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery Department. The hospital is extremely proud to have performed the first cardiac transplant operation in the Arab Middle East in 1999. The hospital is currently a 325-bed facility that treats more than 24,000 patients/year and performs more than 10,000 surgeries/year. The hospital has one of the biggest Nephrology and Dialysis departments and performs the highest numbers of renal transplants in the country. HHUMC also has one of the largest Intensive Care Units in Lebanon.
