Kevin Kelly has worked in the software engineering and web development industries for over 25 years. In 1996, they became the Owner and Director of Improv Resource Center LLC, where they managed message boards, wordpress sites, podcasts and custom applications in PHP and Ruby on Rails. Kevin also created an e-commerce site using Ruby on Rails. In 2001, they became the Training Center Director and Artistic Director of The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, where they selected shows for the theater, developed new shows and programs, and created the annual 3 on 3 Tournament. In 2012, they became the Artistic Director of the Chicago Improv Festival, where they oversaw the creative decisions behind the festival and created a Ruby on Rail application. In 2013, they became the Artistic Director of Under The Gun Theater, where they solo developed several web applications, including an event management and ticketing application in Ruby on Rails. In 2016, they became an Instructor at The Second City. In 2018, they became a Bootcamp Prep Instructor and Teaching Fellow at Fullstack Academy of Code. In 2018, they became a Software Engineer and Junior Software Engineer at BenchPrep. In 2021, they became a Full Stack Engineer at Screencastify. Currently, they are a Front End Software Engineer at Higher Learning Technologies, where they work on the front-end Vue application.
Kevin Kelly attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1986 to 1990, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English and Rhetoric. In 2017, they completed a Software Engineering Immersive program at Fullstack Academy, focusing on Fullstack Web Development.
