highmills is a non-profit association dedicated to research and development in the fields of urban planning, architecture, and environmental technology made for the building industry. It was founded in 2022 by two architects based in Geneva, Switzerland.

highmills is dedicated to the strategy, planning, design, realisation and construction of architectural and technical self-sufficiency solutions adapted to high density urban territories, cities, neighborhoods, blocks and buildings, in order to increase their sustainability and independence.

highmills develops its pioneering research through design workshops and visiting studios, exhibitions, publications, design research projects, and the development of prototypes and technical pilot and architectural devices on a 1:1 scale in situ. It investigates the integration of technologies related to self-sufficiency for the development of complete architectural and technical devices that are urban, technically, socially and economically viable.
