John Markels

John Markels, Ph.D., possesses extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, currently serving as a Board Member for Arcturus Therapeutics and Sangamo Therapeutics, Inc., as well as a Strategic Advisor for HilleVax. Markels holds multiple board positions at educational institutions, including Kent Place School and the University of Delaware, and has been influential at the University of California, Berkeley. Previously, Markels had a distinguished career at Merck, where roles included President of Merck Vaccines, Managing Director of MSD Mexico, and various senior executive positions within the Merck Manufacturing Division. Markels earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, after completing a BS in the same field at the University of Delaware.
