Russ Hessler

Russ Hessler has extensive experience in health information management, particularly in roles involving compliance and record management. Currently serving as a Secretary on the Board of Directors for Central and Southern Ohio HIMSS since July 2010, Russ contributes by documenting meeting minutes and providing historical context for board decisions. Previously, as the Director of Medical Records at Madison County Hospital from January 2010 to July 2020, responsibilities included compliance with The Joint Commission and HIPAA regulations, oversight of coding and denial management, and serving as Privacy Officer. Earlier, at The Ohio State University Student Health Services from January 2000 to January 2008, Russ managed medical records and information services, led compliance efforts with Joint Commission standards, and directed the implementation of various health information systems, enhancing operational efficiency and privacy. An alumnus of The Ohio State University, Russ's educational background supports a strong foundation in health information practices.
