David McCarthy is a legal expert with extensive experience in contract and reinsurance wordings. Currently serving as Head of Contract Wordings at Hiscox since November 2022, McCarthy previously held the role of Head of Reinsurance Wordings for London and International Reinsurance at AXA XL from May 2015 to November 2022. McCarthy's career also includes significant positions as Associate Director at Berwin Leighton Paisner from March 2001 to March 2015, Solicitor at Hogan Lovells for one year from March 2000, and Solicitor at Rhodes & Co. from April 1996 to August 1999. McCarthy earned an LLB(Hons.) and BCom in Law and Accounting from the University of Otago between 1991 and 1996, following education at Southland Boys’ High School from 1986 to 1990.
