HiSET is a high school equivalency (HSE) exam that expands opportunities for individuals without a traditional high school diploma, helping prepare them for success in the workforce and beyond.

Designed to measure the knowledge and skills comparable to those of high school graduates, the HiSET exam supports adult learners in demonstrating college and career readiness. HiSET is offered in paper-based or computer-based formats and is available in English and Spanish.

HiSET is available in 31 states and territories and can be taken at an authorized test center or remotely through live online proctoring. HiSET works closely with adult education programs, state agencies, and workforce partners to support equitable access to high school equivalency credentials and to strengthen education-to-workforce pathways.
