Carol Shaffer has extensive work experience in various engineering roles, primarily in the medical device industry. Carol started their career as a Researcher at Kent State University in 2005 and later worked as a National Science Foundation Fellow Researcher at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006. In 2007, they joined Boston Scientific as a Technical Services Consultant and later became a Field Clinical Representative and Design Engineer R&D. In 2013, Carol joined Covidien (now Medtronic Minimally Invasive Therapies Group) as a Senior R&D Engineer and then as a Staff Research and Development Engineer. In 2016, they joined Medtronic as a Principal R&D Engineer and later became an R&D Engineering Manager. Carol'smost recent role is with HistoSonics, Inc., where they currently hold the position of Sr. Principal R&D Engineer.
Carol Shaffer earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering from The Ohio State University from 2001 to 2004. Carol then pursued a Masters degree in Bioengineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2005 to 2007.
