John Best has extensive experience in engineering, particularly in the rail industry, currently serving as Pool Coordinator - Wayside System Engineering at Hitachi Rail STS since July 2020. Prior to this role, John Best worked at Hitachi Rail STS since September 1993 in various capacities including Principal Project/System Engineer and Principal System Engineer, while also holding a similar position at Ansaldo STS, a Hitachi Group Company. John's engineering expertise encompasses a range of technologies such as Automatic Train Control (ATC), Positive Train Control (PTC), and Automatic Train Operation (ATO), along with experience as a Systems Engineer, Project Engineer, and Software Design Engineer. Earlier in his career, John Best was a Senior Engineer at the United States Naval Research Laboratory, focusing on antenna design and signal processing. John Best holds a Master's degree from Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from West Virginia University.
