David Malone currently serves as the Under-Secretary General of the UN and Rector of the United Nations University since March 2013. Prior to this role, David Malone was the President of the International Development Research Centre from July 2008 to February 2013 and served as High Commissioner at the Canadian High Commission in India from July 2006 to June 2008, which included ambassadorial responsibilities to Bhutan and Nepal. David Malone also held the position of Assistant Deputy Minister for Global Issues at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Ottawa from September 2004 to July 2006 and was the President of the International Peace Academy from October 1998 to September 2004. David Malone's academic qualifications include a D.Phil in Politics with a focus on International Relations from the University of Oxford, a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School, an Arabic Language Diploma from The American University in Cairo, and a Bachelor of Administrative Studies from Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales in Montreal.
