Michael Strauss

Michael Strauss has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Starting in 1985, they worked as the Director of Research at Iogen Corp, managing and leading a research team and analyzing markets for biomass materials utilization. From 1988 to 1991, they were a Consultant at Ventana Systems, where they designed and implemented optimization software and conducted system dynamics analysis for businesses. As the VP of Technology at Zwillinger and Associates from 1991 to 1995, they served as a consultant for a molecular design software company and managed projects in luggage simulation and business forecasting. At Ceranova, they held the role of VP of Technology from 1995 to 1998, overseeing research, process, and applications development for ceramic piezoelectric fiber manufacturing and high-temperature superconductor current leads. Since 1998, they have been the President and Founder of HME, where they specialize in salt gradient energy using ceramic membranes and mathematical analysis for nanoparticle-fluid systems. Michael has also developed manufacturing processes for piezoelectric and high-temperature superconductors, and their work has been recognized with a NIH grant. In addition to their professional accomplishments, they have also served as the Chair of the Energy Advisory Committee for the City of Newburyport since 2011.

Michael Strauss earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1975 to 1979. Michael later pursued a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, also at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, from 1979 to 1985.
