Mike Thomas

Mike Thomas is a seasoned professional in the railroad maintenance and construction industry, currently serving as a Construction Field Specialist 1 at HNTB since October 2022, where involvement includes the construction of the Purple Line. Prior to this role, Mike held various positions at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) from January 2006 to April 2023, culminating in the role of Assistant General Superintendent, Track Maintenance and Track Inspection, overseeing a vast 216-mile system and managing a team of 200 employees. Mike also served as Superintendent Track Production, responsible for major track improvement projects. Earlier career experiences include serving as Track and Way Supervisor at MTA Maryland and progressing from Trackman to General Foreman at Amtrak. Mike began the career in track maintenance and locomotive engineering at the Baltimore Annapolis Railroad. Educational background includes attendance at Patterson High School from 1972 to 1975.
