Honey Pot Performance is an interdisciplinary collaborative performance ensemble chronicling Afro-feminist and Black diasporic subjectivities amidst the pressures of contemporary global life. Since 2001, HPP has cultivated an approach to performance integrating movement, theater, and first-voice to examine the nuanced ways people negotiate identity, belonging, and difference in their lives and cultural memberships.

Over the past two decades, HPP has steadily built a foundational set of methodologies, a committed community, and a deep network of partners. Our programming structure includes three arms: Long-form, community-engaged performance projects; Participatory public humanities work, including preservation activities documenting largely underrepresented histories, pedagogy, and publications; and development and production support for Black artists and other artists of color who align with our commitment to performance, storytelling, and the Black experience in all its diasporic variation.
