Derek Chan, CPA, is a tax professional with extensive experience in exempt organization tax services since joining Hood & Strong, LLP in February 2014, where progression from Tax Associate to Tax Manager has been achieved. Responsibilities have included preparing and reviewing tax returns for a variety of entities, assisting with audits, conducting tax research, and providing training through webinars. Prior roles include accounts payable and general ledger specialist positions at MG West and James J. Boyle & Co., where financial reporting and reconciliation tasks were performed. Derek Chan also has volunteer experience supervising and training at SFSU VITA. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from San Francisco State University and ongoing studies towards a Master of Science in Taxation at Golden Gate University.
