Hopeful Future is a peer-led, non-clinical recovery programme supporting Ukrainian combat veterans in rebuilding life beyond military service.

Founded in response to the long-term psychological and moral impact of war, the programme focuses particularly on moral injury, loss of identity, survivor’s guilt, and the transition from frontline clarity to civilian uncertainty. It provides structured group-based recovery spaces facilitated by trained peers, creating an environment where veterans can process experience, reconnect with purpose, and re-engage with family, work and community.

Hopeful Future operates through a cross-border governance model, combining UK charitable oversight with Ukrainian local delivery partnerships. The programme is supported by multiple international donors and collaborates with universities, veteran development centres and civil society organisations across Ukraine.

Our work recognises a simple reality: many veterans were prepared to give their lives for their country. After service, they deserve the same level of commitment in helping them rebuild it.
