Chief Data Scientist at Hopper

Patrick Surry is the Chief Data Scientist at Hopper, a previous Global Solution Owner for Customer Analytics at Pitney Bowes Software, and a VP of Technology at Portrait Software. Patrick has also lectured at the University of Edinburgh.

Born in 1972, Patrick Surry grew up in Scotland and graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a degree in computer science. Patrick began their career in 1995 as a lecturer at their alma mater, but soon transitioned to the private sector, taking a position as Director of Customer Services at Quadstone. In 2005, they joined Pitney Bowes Software as their Global Solution Owner for Customer Analytics. There, they were responsible for the strategic direction of their customer analytics product and solutions portfolio, which generated annual revenue of $50M. In 2013, they left Pitney Bowes to join Portrait Software as VP of Technology. At Portrait, they successfully integrated people, products and processes post Quadstone acquisition, and led development of an integrated product vision in real-time interaction management. In 2016, they joined Hopper as their Chief Data Scientist.

Patrick Surry is an expert in customer analytics and has extensive experience in data mining, predictive customer behavior modeling, contact optimization, and uplift modeling. Patrick is passionate about helping companies understand their customers and using data to improve customer satisfaction.

Patrick Surry received their PhD in Mathematics & Statistics from The University of Edinburgh. Patrick also attended the Complex Systems Summer School at The Santa Fe Institute on a full scholarship. Their undergraduate degree is in Applied Math from Western University.

They work with Alex Campeau - VP Engineering, Dakota Smith - Chief Strategy Officer, and Ben Walters - Head of Strategy & BD, Hopper Cloud. Patrick Surry reports to Frederic Lalonde, CEO.
