Commercial Director - Stations at HS2

Mike O'Hare has extensive work experience in the energy and infrastructure industries. Mike most recently served as the Commercial Director - Stations at HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd, where they managed multibillion-pound contracts for the development of high-speed railway stations. Prior to this role, they were the Head of Commercial - Rail Systems and Rolling Stock at HS2, responsible for overseeing diverse and complex contracts within Europe's largest construction project.

Before joining HS2, Mike held leadership positions at National Grid, where they served as the Director of Due Diligence and Development. In this role, they led commercial, technical, and market due diligence for the acquisition of Geronimo Energy and played a key role in shaping the company's offshore wind strategy in the US. Mike also developed market entry strategies and business models for National Grid Ventures in the UK's distributed energy and electric vehicle infrastructure markets.

Additionally, Mike has held roles at SSE plc as the Head of Region - Thames Valley, overseeing connection delivery, supply restoration, and customer relations for the company's Thames Valley Region. Mike also served as the General Manager at London Array Limited, managing the operational aspects of the world's largest offshore wind farm.

Earlier in their career, Mike completed E.ON's Emerging Leaders scheme and worked at National Grid as an Operations Engineer.

Throughout their career, Mike has demonstrated expertise in commercial management, strategic planning, and fostering collaboration within complex projects and diverse teams.

Mike O'Hare completed an Executive MBA with Distinction from the University of Warwick - Warwick Business School from 2010 to 2013. Mike also obtained an MSci degree in Physics from the University of Bristol, studying from 1995 to 1999. Furthermore, they hold additional certifications as an APM Fellow from the Association for Project Management since 2021 and as a Fellow from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) since 2014.
