James Lee

Cheif Economist, Japan and Korea

James (Dong Hyouk) Lee is currently the Chief Economist for Japan and Korea at HSBC, a role they have held since 2016. Previously, they were an Asia Rates Strategist at Barclays from 2014 to 2016 and an Economist/Local Market Strategist at J.P. Morgan from 2008 to 2011. Lee began their career as an Interpreter in the Republic of Korea Army from 2004 to 2006 and served as a Research Assistant to Professor Charles Goodhart at the London School of Economics in 2012-2013. They hold a Master of Science in Economics and a Graduate Diploma in Economics, both from the London School of Economics and Political Science, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Hanyang University.
