John David Thiede

John David Thiede is currently the Associate General Counsel at HSBC, where they serve as the Head of Financial Regulation for the UK, EU, and US within the Markets and Securities Services Legal department. Thiede previously worked as Senior Legal Counsel at HSBC from 2017 to 2022 and held various positions in financial regulatory law, including as a Senior Associate at the Financial Conduct Authority from 2012 to 2014. They have gained extensive experience through roles at prestigious firms like Sidley Austin LLP and WilmerHale, as well as internships at the Financial Services Authority and Clifford Chance. Thiede earned a Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law and an LL.M. in International Commercial & Corporate Law from Queen Mary University of London.
