Michael Abel

Michael Abel is an experienced banking professional currently serving as the Head of Commercial Banking for Northern Germany and Denmark at HSBC Germany since March 2021. Abel has held a Director position at HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt AG in Hamburg since February 2011, focusing on management and relationship coverage for large corporate clients in Northern Germany. Previously, Abel was the Head of the Hamburg Branch at HSBC Deutschland from October 2017 to March 2021, and prior to that, held the position of Director Coverage and Head of Corporate Lending at NIBC Bank N.V. from February 2010 to February 2011. Abel’s earlier experience includes serving as an Executive Director at GE Capital and a Director at ABN AMRO Bank, as well as a Relationship Banker at Rabobank. Educational qualifications include an MBA in Finance from Golden Gate University and a Bachelor’s degree in International Business Administration from the International Business School in Germany.
