Peter May

Peter May has extensive experience in operational risk management and financial crime compliance across leading financial institutions. At HSBC from June 2014 to August 2023, Peter May held multiple senior roles, including Managing Director and Group Head of Fraud, Global Head of Wholesale and Markets Fraud, and Head of Oversight for International Businesses in Europe, South Africa, and Bermuda. Peter May also led the Operational Risk Oversight for HSBC's Structural Reform Programme and was integral in transforming financial crime risk processes, contributing significantly to KYC, On-Boarding, and Transaction Monitoring initiatives. Prior to this, Peter May served as Head of Governance and Controls at Barclays, overseeing compliance for cards and payments, and was the Head of Wholesale and Market Risk at HSBC in Vietnam from December 2010 to November 2012.
