Rob Merry

Rob Merry is the Global Functional Head at HSBC Group Actuarial, overseeing independent model risk assessments for material models across various HSBC entities, including Insurance, Pensions, Finance, Private Banking, and Wealth. They served as Chair of Governors at Mary Bassett Lower School since 2018 and held multiple leadership roles at the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries from 2017 to 2020. Previously, Rob worked as Deputy Chief Actuary and With-Profits Actuary at Equitable Life Assurance Society from 1990 to 2013. They have also held several key positions at HSBC, including Global Head of the Actuarial Centre of Excellence and Global Head of Independent Model Review. Rob earned a Diploma in Actuarial Science from Heriot-Watt University and graduated with First Class Honours in Econometrics, Mathematics, and Economics from the University of Bath.
