Hugo connects eager learners, primarily high school students, with professors at top universities for purpose-driven mentorships in your area of interest. Mentors work with you 1:1 or in small groups to explore a subject or complete project that is guided both by your curiosity and their expertise. Hugo mentorships culminate in final projects that range from research papers to portfolios. One sample final project was a policy memo for a US Congressperson addressing the key environmental needs in this Congressional district, including natural disasters, transportation and food supply based on cutting-edge research in environmental science.

We believe that learning something you love can help you become the person you were meant to be, and that mentorships are key to this. Studies have shown that having even one quality mentor in your life is a predictor of future success. This is because mentorships are relationships that allow you to grow by learning from experts who help foster your development. Formal, structured mentoring programs provide better outcomes for students than informal mentoring relationships. This is why we designed Hugo Mentors: to provide the ideal balance of structure and flexibility to foster a meaningful learning experience.
