Michael Connelly is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), engaged in genome assembly and sequencing research for the hydrozoan Podocoryna carnea. Previously, Michael served as a Biodiversity Genomics Postdoctoral Fellow at the Smithsonian Institution, focusing on host-microbe coevolution in Pocillopora corals. As a Ph.D. Graduate Researcher at the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School, Michael investigated coral immune systems and bacterial interactions. Additional experiences include research internships, undergraduate assistance in coral studies, and a Hollings Student Internship at NOAA's Southeast Fisheries Science Center. Michael holds a Bachelor's Degree in Marine Science/Biology and Chemistry from the University of Miami.
