Durga Cherukuri has worked in a variety of roles in the field of genetics since 2000. From 2000 to 2002, they were a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources in New Delhi, India, and a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in New Delhi, India. From 2002 to 2011, they were an Assistant Research Scientist at the BIO5 Institute, University of Arizona and a Research Associate at the Department of Pathology, University of Arizona. During this time, they conducted two research studies in human colorectal cancer and developed key collaborations with academic and industry researchers. From 2011 to 2014, they were a Clinical Instructor and ABMGG Fellow in Clinical Cytogenetics at the University of California, Los Angeles, and an ABMGG Fellow in Clinical Molecular Genetics and Assistant Research Biologist. From 2014 to 2015, they were the Director of TriCore Reference Laboratories and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of New Mexico. Here, they signed out over 12,000 molecular and cytogenetic tests and trained clinical pathology, hematopathology, and molecular genetic pathology residents in clinical cytogenetics. From 2015 to 2017, they were the Associate Director of Clinical Genomics at Genoptix, Inc. where they were responsible for the clinical molecular genetics, clinical cancer cytogenetics, and training of clinical laboratory staff. Finally, from 2017 to present, they have been a Clinical Geneticist and Technical Laboratory Director at Human Longevity, Inc.
Durga Cherukuri's education history includes a Ph.D. from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in Genetics from 1995 to 2002, an M.Sc. (Ag) (Genetics) from Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University from 1992 to 1994, and a B.Sc (Ag) from Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University from 1988 to 1992. Additionally, Durga Cherukuri has obtained seven certifications since 2015, including Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist (CGMBS) from the California Department of Public Health in 2017, COQ in Genetics (Molecular), Cytogenetics, and Oncology (Molecular and Cellular Tumor Markers) from the New York State Department of Health in 2016, Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist from the California Department of Public Health in 2015, Cytogenetics from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) in 2015, Molecular Biology from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) in 2015, Clinical Cytogenetics from the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics in 2015, and Clinical Molecular Genetics from the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics in 2013.
