Patrick Gates

Patrick Gates has over 25 years of experience in the tech industry. Patrick started their career as a software engineer at Bear, Stearns & Co., Inc. in 1993. Patrick then worked at NeXT Computer from 1996 to 1997 before joining Apple Computer, Inc. as a senior engineer in 1997. Patrick spent the next 11 years at Apple, eventually becoming the head of platform infrastructure and engineering for iCloud, FaceTime, iMessage, and APNS. In January 2005, they left Apple to join Sun Microsystems as a software architect. Patrick worked on research for massive scale distributed storage systems before leaving Sun Microsystems in January 2005 to return to Apple. Patrick spent the next 13 years at Apple, until they left in October 2018 to become the CTO at Humane.
