Humanity Hale is a Hawai‘i Island–based nonprofit dedicated to helping youth heal, grow, and thrive through trauma-informed care, cultural connection, and community support.

Founded in 2019 by Charis Higginson, Humanity Hale offers holistic programs that blend Hawaiian arts, therapy, and life-skills education to empower at-risk and foster youth on their path toward healing and independence. We create safe, supportive spaces where youth feel seen, heard, and guided toward healing.

We envision thriving generations grounded in culture, self-worth, and aloha ʻāina, equipped with the life skills and emotional tools to build a better future for themselves and their communities.

Our five core programs include:

🌺 Group & Individual Therapy — Emotional healing through peer support and mentorship

🎨 Art Therapy — Creative expression for trauma release and confidence building

🌈 Hawaiian Arts — Cultural practices that restore identity, connection, and pride

🌿 Life Skills — Practical tools for daily living, financial literacy, and independence

💞 Abuse Prevention & Diversity Training — Safe spaces for learning empathy and respect

We are currently developing a 16-unit transitional housing community on a 5-acre farm to support youth aging out of foster care — providing a place to live, learn, and belong while receiving therapy, mentorship, and vocational training in agriculture, sustainability, and cultural restoration.

We hold ourselves accountable to the youth we serve, to the land we care for, and to the generations to come. Together, we are building a future where every young person feels safe, supported, and seen.

✨ E ola ka lāhui — May our people thrive.
