John Wu

Advisor at Hummingbot

John Wu is currently an advisor at Hummingbot, a crypto trading bot company. Prior to that, they were the CEO of the Digital Assets Group at SharesPost from January 2018 to December 2019. In that role, they were responsible for the business model and product market-fit for the company's digital securities ecosystem. John also raised corporate funding and built a team of sales, business development, and engineering professionals. In January 2019, they executed the first trade of digital securities where SharesPost served as the custodian, alternative trading system, and broker-dealer.

Wu began their career in finance at Kingdon Capital, a global hedge fund, where they worked as a portfolio manager from January 2004 to December 2010. During their time at Kingdon, they invested in a variety of companies within the technology, media, telecom, and FinTech industries. John was a strong P&L contributor across all market cycles and their portfolio scope was global with a particular emphasis on US and China investments. Among private deals, they led a venture round for BillMeLater, which realized a 41% IRR when eBay acquired it for $1b+. The company was folded into PayPal and laid the foundation for PayPal Credit, a multi-billion dollar business today.

John Wu earned their MBA from Harvard Business School and their BS in Dyson School Applied Economics and Business Management from Cornell University.
